Improv
Unlocking creativity, collaboration, and confidence through supportive and inspiring coaching
This interactive workshop is designed for experienced improvisers who are looking to transition into coaching, or for established coaches who want to further enhance and refine their skills. It will equip you with the knowledge, techniques, and confidence to become an effective and inspiring improv teacher or coach.
Over the course of five comprehensive lessons, you'll learn the essential qualities of a successful improv educator, delve into lesson planning and class structure, master the art of providing constructive side-coaching, notes, and feedback, and develop your unique teaching style.
- Week 1: Foundations of effective teaching and coaching
- Week 2: Lesson planning and structuring sessions
- Week 3: Providing empowering feedback and addressing challenges
- Week 4: Developing your own teaching style and continuous improvement
- Week 5: Coaching exercises showcase
Depending on numbers, we may extend the length of the 5th class to allow coaches adequate time to run their exercises.
This workshop is hands-on, and will provide opportunities for all participants to run a number of exercises throughout the sessions. At times, all participants should be prepared to play the role of improvisers, either when exercises or techniques are being demonstrated, or when other participants are leading the group through various parts of the sessions.
You'll leave this workshop with a refined idea of your own coaching philosophy, as well as a number of custom-designed exercises.
